Daniel es un pintor cuya ambición ha desestabilizado su matrimonio. La situación empeora cuando Werner, un millonario solitario y enfermo, compra una de sus obras y le propone un nuevo proyecto que consiste en grabar unas imágenes. Aunque Daniel sabe muy bien que lo suyo no es el vídeo, acepta la gran suma de dinero que le ofrece el anciano. A medida que le hace nuevos encargos, a cual más extravagante, el pintor empieza a plantearse si el verdadero propósito de Werner es impulsar su carrera o arruinar su vida.
